The Memorial Project

The National Memorial Arboretum

The Armed Forces Memorial will be built in the National Memorial Arboretum, a 150-acre site centrally located in the United Kingdom, near Lichfield, Staffordshire.

Opened in 2001, and now under the control of The Royal British Legion, it is envisaged that the Arboretum will become a place of national importance for Remembrance and commemoration year round.

There are excellent prospects for developing educational facilities to give our younger generations a chance to learn about the history of the Armed Forces and the valuable contribution they have made in the past and continue to make today. The Arboretum has a Chapel and a Visitor Centre. The Chapel was the only place of worship built to mark the Millennium and it could provide an ideal location to keep the names of those who are commemorated by the Armed Forces Memorial.
